Searches stay on your device
The map has no account, payment, advertising, optional analytics, newsletter, customer upload or GPS-location request. Search terms, selected records and category filters are handled locally; the clients do not send those search or filter values to Egress or to the basemap provider.
The website does not save searches or selections in cookies, local storage or a service worker. Ordinary browser caching still applies. The native apps keep their basemap preference in their own app settings.
Website and basemap requests
Cloudflare Pages delivers and protects this website and its downloads. Cloudflare processes technical request information, which may include your IP address, browser and system information, routing information and requested paths. Optional Cloudflare Web Analytics is disabled.
Cloudflare may process information outside Canada. It says it primarily stores information in the United States and European Economic Area and may transfer or access it globally. Cloudflare retains information according to its service purposes and legal obligations; Egress does not set a universal retention period for Cloudflare's logs. Cloudflare security features may use cookies to distinguish legitimate visitors from automated traffic.

When the website's basemap is on, your browser requests visible tiles from OpenStreetMap. Those requests can disclose your IP address, browser metadata, the site's origin and the map area being viewed. OpenStreetMap controls its service logs.
Turn the basemap off to stop subsequent tile requests; the public records and routes remain available. This does not erase requests already sent. Egress does not provide bulk, prefetched or offline tile downloads.
Mac and iPhone basemaps
The native apps use Apple Maps. Apple receives the requests needed to render the viewed map area and associated service metadata. Egress does not request your GPS location.
Source links and public downloads
Opening a source or licence link takes you to that website, which receives ordinary browser request information and applies its own privacy practices. Egress does not collect those sources in the background through these clients.
The downloadable or shareable map file contains the documented public records and source credits. Sharing sends it only to the destination you choose; there is no Egress upload service. Third-party data keeps its stated open licence and attribution requirements.
Support, corrections and privacy requests
Email me@julyskyfly.com for help, a correction or a privacy question. Sending email shares your email address and message with the recipient and the email services involved. You do not need to send confidential documents, employer material or credentials.
Routine support emails are deleted by default 90 days after resolution. Minimal records may be kept longer for an ongoing security or legal matter. Email providers' retention and backup schedules are separate from this policy.
You can use the same address to request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information you have sent us. There is no Egress customer account to delete. See what to include in a support message.
Using the map
Records describe their source's reporting period and may refer to sites, units or reporting boundaries. Locations and routes are not survey-grade. Use the map for general research and verify material decisions with current authoritative evidence. Do not use it for navigation, excavation or emergency response.
Government and publisher names identify sources; they do not endorse Egress. Sources & coverage in the map lists the data credits and licences.
